Small-business website contact page checklist

Published August 24, 2026 · Galaxy Gleam Media

A contact page should make the next step obvious without forcing a visitor to guess what to send, where you serve or how quickly someone will respond.

Put the primary contact path first

Choose the action that matches the business: call for urgent services, request a quote for projects, book an appointment for scheduled services or visit a location for walk-in businesses. Repeat that action near the top and bottom of the page.

Give visitors enough context

Make mobile contact easy

Test the phone link, form fields, buttons and map on a real phone. Keep the phone number readable, provide an accessible label for each field and avoid placing the submit button below unrelated content.

Set expectations honestly

Tell visitors when the team is normally available and what happens after they submit. Avoid guarantees or response-time claims unless the business can consistently meet them.

Measure real inquiries

Record the page, date, source and outcome for calls and forms. A form submission or advertising-platform lead is only an inquiry until a real person confirms the request.

Next step: Review your contact page on a phone and ask someone unfamiliar with the business to complete the intended action.
